Former world number 10 David Goffin had suffered a few seasons in the wilderness before some resurgent form this Spring saw him win a sixth ATP title at the Marrakech Open and take Rafael Nadal to three thrilling sets at the Madrid Open. The 31-year-old was unfortunate to meet Daniil Medvedev in the first round of the Halle Open two weeks ago but he is an experienced all-courter who reached the quarter-finals here back in 2019 before defeat to eventual champion Novak Djokovic. That, and his convincing 4-0 lead in their head-to-head record, suggests this should be relatively straightforward against world number 113 Radu Albot. The 32-year-old qualified well this week and he is always a dogged and tiring opponent to face on tour but after a long injury lay-off the Moldovan is still some way off his top level. Back Goffin to win outright here, although the Belgian should be able to take this in three.
