World number six Aryna Sabalenka struggled through her round of 16 clash with Caroline Dolehide on Thursday, coming back from a set down to edge a match strewn with errors. The 24-year-old’s serve was wayward once again after missing much of the last month, with just five aces to show for 23 doubles faults. If she cannot tune up in time for this quarter-final then the day should belong to world number 12 Daria Kasatkina, who has already ousted a big-server this week in Elena Rybakina. The 25-year-old has found some excellent form this season as she gets ever closer to breaking her career-high WTA world ranking of 10th first achieved back in 2018. Kasatkina beat Sabalenka in their first meeting a year later but since then the Belarussian has had the better of their matches to lead 3-1 in their head-to-head record. At this moment in time, Kasatkina should be able to claw one back against the former world number two. Taking the Russian to win at least a set is the suitably cautious move here but an outright win should come through unless Sabalenka vastly improves overnight.
