THE PREDICTION

Former world number one Daniil Medvedev can move back inside the top 10 on tour if he reaches the Rotterdam Open final and he announced himself as the main contender after defeating defending champion Felix Auger-Aliassime in comfortable fashion on Thursday. The 27-year-old came back from a set down in his opener against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina but has since not looked back as he aims to improve on a poor 2022 season by his lofty standards. World number 28 Grigor Dimitrov overcame in-form Alex de Minaur in three sets on Thursday to back-up two strong performances over Hubert Hurkacz and Aslan Karatsev. The former world number three has needed top 10 opposition to oust him from his last three tournaments on tour but Medvedev is certainly in that bracket in all but number for now. Medvedev beat Dimitrov in straight sets at this stage of the Vienna Open late last season on his way to the title there and a 4-2 head-to-head record suggests the Russian can be backed to come through outright here.
