THE TEAM NEWS

GOLD COAST TITANS

  • Gold Coast Titans were beaten for the third game in succession as they went down to South Sydney Rabbitohs last week in a game which highlighted their defensive frailties.
  • The Titans amassed 28 points but shipped 46, the second time they have conceded that total in their last three outings. They have lost David Fifita for this contest owing to him being rested after presenting delayed concussion symptoms after last week’s game but AJ Brimson is back in the side.

Starting 13: Brimson, Khan-Pereira, Kelly, Schoupp, Sami, Campbell, Boyd, Fotuaika, Verrills, T. Fa’asuamaleaui, Haas, Stimson, Liu – Interchanges: Leeming, Clark, Jolliffe, I. Fa’asuamaleaui – Reserves: J. Fifita, Kini, Mikaele, Vuna, Maumalo

Unavailable: Beau Fermor (Injured), Toby Sexton (Injured), Kieran Foran (Injured), David Fifita (Rested), Chris Randall (Suspended)

WESTS TIGERS

  • Wests Tigers suffered a heartbreaking loss against Canberra Raiders having excellently fought back from 0-18 down but despite edging ahead with three minutes remaining, they were cruelly beaten in the dying stages.
  • A Jamal Fogarty handed the Raiders the victory but such was the efforts of the Tigers last week, it is unsurprising that head coach Tim Sheens has opted to roll with the same 17 for this encounter.

Starting 13: Bula, Nofoaluma, To’a, Talau, Tupou, Wakeham, Brooks, Utoikamanu, Koroisau, Klemmer, Papali’i, Bateman, Pole – Interchanges: Simpkin, Seyfarth, Twal, Kepaoa – Reserves: Laurie, Blore, James, Matamua, Da Silva

Unavailable: Adam Doueihi (Injured), Charlie Staines (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Gold Coast Titans will view this as a winnable fixture on home soil but Wests Tigers will hold no fear ahead of this trip which makes it an intriguing contest. The Titans have lost their last three matches with their defensive woes exposed so that will be an area of focus here. However, Wests have produced some good performances of late and while they could not make it four wins from five last time out, they showed plenty of character to fight back from a poor start and should have enough quality to get back to winning ways in this one.
