World number 72 Daniel Elahi Galan grabbed a strong result on Tuesday to beat Bernabe Zapata Miralles in straight sets. The 26-year-old stunned Stefanos Tsitsipas in the first round of the US Open on his way to the third round in New York and he took that form into a solid run at the San Diego Open before losing to the eventual champion Brandon Nakashima in three sets.
