World number 82 Cristian Garin should be ranked well inside the top 40 after reaching the quarter-finals of Wimbledon last month but without ranking points this season at SW19 the Chilean has been unduly punished for having his only deep run there. Garin has otherwise endured a pretty dire 2022 by his high standards but the 26-year-old should be considered the favourite to overcome world number 61 Jiri Lehecka, despite their current rankings. Still, 20-year-old Lehecka is impressing on tour this season and the Czech is at home on a hardcourt. Lehecka beat Denis Shapovalov and Botic Van de Zandschulp before a three-set exit to Stefanos Tsitsipas in the semi-finals of the Rotterdam Open to suggest he can break top 40 sometime next season but for now he is still seeking a first Grand Slam win after three early exits this year. Garin has reached at least the third round in all three so far this season and he can backed to come through outright with four or even five sets fairly likely.
