This should be a really interesting rematch between world number 20 Alex de Minaur and world number 82 Cristina Garin after the pair shared a five-set thriller in the round of 16 at Wimbledon last month. De Minaur took the first two sets in form that looked like taking him deep into SW19 but Garin, who is deceptively comfortable on grass, fought back valiantly to win the next three. The 26-year-old needed a comeback on Monday too to beat Jiri Lehecka in four sets but 23-year-old De Minaur has the more impressive first round result with a straight-sets victory over Filip Krajinovic. Garin’s win at Wimbledon was his first over the Aussie, with De Minaur taking their first three encounters including their first at this stage of the 2019 US Open. De Minaur will be desperate to win this at any cost after disappointment last month and he can be backed to make amends with an outright victory over Garin on the Chilean’s weaker surface.
