World number 112 Corentin Moutet has reached the round of 16 of a Grand Slam for the first time after a four-set victory over in-form Pedro Cachin. The 23-year-old has always had the potential for a run like this as a highly-talented, difficult opponent with big-game mentality but his inconsistency has kept him from going further than a career-high 67th in the ATP rankings for now. Moutet stunned 21st-seed Botic Van de Zandschulp in the second round after beating Stan Wawrinka at a major for the second time this season.
CASPER RUUD
World number seven Casper Ruud was part of a huge battle on Friday with in-form Tommy Paul, twice taking the lead before closing out the decider 6-0 against the exhausted American. Ruud, also 23, owns nine ATP titles at 250 level but he finished runner-up at the Miami Open this season to Carlos Alcaraz and reached a first Grand Slam final at Roland-Garros before defeat to Rafael Nadal. Just one of Ruud’s nine titles have come on a hardcourt, from San Diego around this time last season.

This could be a thriller, or at least highly entertaining, in a first meeting on tour between Corentin Moutet and Casper Ruud.
