30-year-old Constant Lestienne set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 68th this week after reaching the quarter-finals of a tour-level competition for the first time at last week’s San Diego Open. Lestienne beat fellow Frenchman Adrian Mannarino in straight sets on Wednesday for one of the best results of his long career, in keeping with recent runs to three finals on the Challenger circuit. This looks too steep a climb against world number 54 Emil Ruusuvuori, though, with the Finn playing better than his current ranking suggests in recent months. The 23-year-old beat J.J. Wolf in straight sets on Tuesday and he took Moselle Open finalist Alexander Bublik to three sets this time last week in a match that came close to edging the other way. Back Ruusuvuori to win this first meeting outright but at least a set would be the sensible addition to a promising accumulator.
