THE PREDICTION
World number three Coco Gauff used an altercation with the umpire to fuel her impressive comeback over in-form Karolina Pliskova on Wednesday and that outburst could be just what the American needs to build back some of her more ruthless tennis. The 19-year-old achieved her destiny by winning the US Open last summer but she has been a little off of that incredible best level that saw her win three tournaments in the space of a red-hot month, with her run to the semi-finals of the Australian Open all the more impressive without her peak abilities to hand. 25-year-old Anna Kalinskaya also enjoyed an excellent run in Melbourne, reaching the quarter-finals before a three-set exit to eventual runner-up Qinwen Zheng, and she will set a new career-high WTA world ranking of around 31st for her efforts so far this week. The Russian beat in-form Jelena Ostapenko in straight sets on Wednesday to maintain a spotless run from qualifying and that momentum makes her very dangerous to a currently slightly brittle Gauff. Back Gauff to earn at least a set from this encounter to leave the victor up to chance.
