THE PREDICTION

World number six Aryna Sabalenka passed a significant test on Thursday with a comeback victory over giant-killer Kaia Kanepi, saving match points in a 10-8 second-set tiebreak before closing out the third. The 24-year-old served just three aces to 11 double faults but the rest of her game looks to be improving markedly whilst she still searches for her biggest weapon. World number 131 Clara Burel is in the mood for an upset, though, after stunning Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina in the first round and overcoming a dogged competitor in Alison Van Uytvanck in three sets on Thursday. The 21-year-old was twice a Grand Slam runner-up and former world number one as a junior but after an initially promising start to tour life she has struggled until now this season. Former world number two Sabalenka reached the semi-finals here last season before defeat to Leylah Fernandez and she looks like playing herself into that kind of form with every passing round. A first meeting with the Belarussian should be too much for Burel here. Back Sabalenka to win in straight sets.
