THE PREDICTION

Former world number four Caroline Garcia out-fought Coco Gauff in three sets on Monday to back-up an excellent straight-sets victory over Naomi Osaka. The 30-year-old may well be turning a corner back towards her remarkable 2022 form, with Gauff her first top 10 victory since that searing purple patch that culminated in lifting the WTA Finals trophy, but former number seven Danielle Collins will back herself in this likely thriller as she leads their head-to-head 3-0. The 30-year-old will be backed to the hilt as a Florida native making her final appearance at the Miami Open, having announced that she will retire at the end of the season, and she has looked in excellent shape ever since coming back from a set down to beat Bernarda Pera in the first round.

One of Collins’ three straight-sets victories over Garcia, a better record than most on tour, came during the Frenchwoman’s peak at the San Diego Open in 2022 and she backed that up a year later at the same tournament to suggest she has the heavy advantage on US soil. Back Collins to win.

TIP: DANIELLE COLLINS TO WIN
