World number 18 Reilly Opelka has all the tools to excel on grass as one of the biggest servers on tour but the American brings very little recent form with him. 24-year-old Opelka is riding a four-match losing streak into the first round at SW19 having lost both of his matches on grass this month at Queen’s and the Eastbourne International and he has managed to win back-to-back matches just once since winning a fourth ATP title at the Houston Open back in April.
World number 97 Carlos Taberner, also 24, fares a reasonable chance at an upset here with his opponent in a bit of a rut but the Spaniard has not won a tour-level match since early May and his grass-court experience is limited. Opelka needs a match like this to get his rhythm back but it could be a choppy opener. Back the American to win outright, with four sets fairly likely.
