THE PREDICTION
Both world number 11 Carlos Alcaraz and number 19 Pablo Carreno Busta were forced once again to play two matches in one day with weather all-but washing out play on Saturday. 30-year-old Carreno Busta completed a straight-sets victory over Diego Schwartzman earlier on Sunday on Pista Jan Kodes and he will be by far the fresher of the two after 18-year-old Alcaraz needed just under four hours to overcome an impressive challenge by Alex de Minaur. Alcaraz will set a new career-high ATP world ranking of ninth no matter the outcome of this final after saving two match points in a blistering, energy-sapping battle with De Minaur that could well see him with little left for this final.
Alcaraz and Carreno Busta have never faced each other on court before but there will be few secrets between them after several campaigns over the last year alongside each other as doubles partners, with their first match played together coming here last season. Both players are exceptionally fit but to win a final after a four-hour match would be nothing short of outstanding. If PCB wins a set here he will more than likely go on to take it three but it is hard to see Alcaraz not taking at least one himself. Back the younger Spaniard to utilise the crowd and win at least a set here as the just-about likelier winner.
