THE PREDICTION
Former world number one Victoria Azarenka beat Viktorija Golubic in straight sets for the second week running after also drawing the Swiss in the first round of the Madrid Open. 32-year-old Azarenka was a finalist here back in 2013 but the current world number 16 is certainly at her least effective on the clay and this could be an interesting first meeting with Colombia’s Camila Osorio. The 20-year-old won her first WTA title at last season’s Bogota Open and she reached a third WTA final earlier this season when she finished runner-up to Leylah Fernandez at the Monterrey Open. World number 58 Osorio overcame a stern test from wildcard Lucia Bronzetti in the first round, though, and her recent results suggest that she is not quite up to her best level at present. Backing Azarenka to win this outright seems a reasonable move.
