THE PREDICTION
World number 66 Camila Osorio has the potential to be a sleeper hit at Roland-Garros this fortnight. The 20-year-old won her first WTA title on home soil at last season’s Bogota Open, one of her very first tour-level campaigns, and she has since reached two more tour finals at the Tenerife Open and this season’s Monterrey Open. Osorio beat French wildcard Harmony Tan in straight sets on Sunday and she faces another here in 19-year-old Diane Parry, who will set a new career-high WTA world ranking of around 91st after upsetting the defending champion Barbora Krejcikova in three sets on Monday. In fairness to Krejcikova the Czech looks to have rushed a comeback from injury to attempt the defence of her stunning title last season but that will mean little to Parry, who will be well-backed by the home crowd for the remainder of her campaign in Paris. This looks a proper coupon buster a few ways around but backing Osorio, a clear future star on this surface, to win at least a set as the likelier victor seems wise.
