World number 29 Camila Giorgi enjoyed her best season on tour last year with a first Masters title won at the Canadian Open and several excellent results across the summer, including a run to the quarter finals of the Tokyo Olympic Games. The 30-year-old has started in terrible form, though, riding a seven-match losing streak from the third round of the Australian Open where she lost to eventual champion Ash Barty. World number 41 Shuai Zhang should be considered the reasonable favourite here after a strong 2022 season. The 33-year-old won the third WTA title of her career at the Lyon Open back in February and she is a solid all-courter capable of waiting-out her opponents. Giorgi can often burst into form without notice, though, so backing Shuai Zhang to win at least a set as the likelier winner seems the sensible concession.
