30-year-old Camila Giorgi beat an out-of-sorts Garbine Muguruza at the Eastbourne International this week before a convincing defeat to Jelena Ostapenko in the semi-finals. The Italian found some of the form of her career this time last season, culminating in a first Masters title win at the Canadian Open in August, but she set her best Grand Slam showing here back in 2018 with a run to the quarter-finals. World number 92 Magdalena Frech came close to upsetting in-form Beatriz Haddad-Maia at the Birmingham Classic last week and a straight-sets result over Qinwen Zheng at Eastbourne this week is another decent result on the grass. Giorgi remains the favourite as the more comfortable on this surface but an upset would not be a huge surprise, so back the Italian to win at least a set and leave the winner up to chance.
