World number 12 Cam Norrie played well in a tough five-set throwdown with an impressive Jaume Munar on Wednesday. The Brit is desperate to reach the second week of a Grand Slam and his portion of the draw has opened up significantly over the last few days with genuine potential to reach the semi-finals if he plays to his best ability. World number 93 Steve Johnson is doing just that at Wimbledon so far, outlasting an injured Grigor Dimitrov in the first round before producing a vintage grass-court display to beat in-form Ryan Peniston in three. Johnson reached the round of 16 here as recently as 2016 and two of the American’s four ATP titles have come on grass, most recently in Newport back in 2018. Norrie has the right stuff to win through here but grass is still is weakest surface and Johnson’s best, so taking the Brit to edge this outright looks the sensible course of action.
