World number 11 Cam Norrie put in a valiant defence of his Los Cabos Open title last week, defeating Felix Auger-Aliassime for a first time in an impressive top 10 win, but he fell at the final hurdle to Daniil Medvedev. 26-year-old Norrie reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon last month and took the first set from eventual champion Novak Djokovic before defeat for his best run on tour but a Masters win at Indian Wells last season is just as impressive in its own right. Recent results suggest the Brit is improving still, with reaching around world number six a real possibility this year considering he lost out on huge points at SW19, but this is a tricky opener in the way of his pursuit of that. World number 63 Brandon Nakashima should also be ranked far higher after a huge run to the round of 16 at Wimbledon was ended by Nick Kyrgios in five sets. The 21-year-old has knuckled down since then in impressive fashion, reaching back-to-back quarter-finals in Atlanta and Los Cabos, but Norrie leads this head-to-head 2-1 having won each of their last two meetings in straight sets – including at Eastbourne back in June.
