World number 75 Brandon Nakashima fought back valiantly from 2-1 down to beat Kamil Majchrzak in five sets on Monday on his main draw debut at Roland-Garros. The 20-year-old has twice reached this stage of the US Open before but this is his first second round away from home soil and he has an excellent opportunity to set his best run at a major. World number 58 Tallon Griekspoor is a surprise second round entrant after coming back to upset in-form clay-courter Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in four sets on Sunday. The Dutchman is also making his Roland-Garros debut this week and this is a huge opportunity for either player to reach the third round for a first time. Griekspoor took Pablo Carreno Busta to five sets at this stage of the Australian Open back in January and a victory over last season’s quarter-finalist, Davidovich Fokina, is a pretty big statement. Back Griekspoor to win at least two sets here as the just-about likelier of two very capable winners in a match that could well go to five.
