THE PREDICTION
Defending champion Matteo Berrettini put in an assured performance in sweltering conditions on Friday to beat Tommy Paul in straight sets. The world number 10 won the sixth ATP title of his career last week at the Stuttgart Open to take a seven-match winning streak into this tough semi-final clash with in-form Botic van de Zandschulp. The Dutchman, also 26, ousted Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in straight sets on Friday to back-up a huge result over Grigor Dimitrov in the round of 16 and he will set a new career-high ATP world ranking of at least 26th to assure a first seeding at Wimbledon later this month. Van de Zandschulp lost to Berrettini in the second round at SW19 last season, with the Italian going on to finish runner-up on what is clearly his best surface. This is a serious challenge for Berrettini on Saturday but the Italian can be backed to edge through outright as the title favourite for tomorrow.
