THE PREDICTION

Former world number 12 Borna Coric is looking for a second win on tour since returning from a year-long absence but he has taken sets from Alexander Zverev at the Miami Open and Jannik Sinner on clay at the Monte-Carlo Open. The 25-year-old won his first ATP title on clay at the Grand Prix Hassan II back in 2017 but he has an excellent record at Masters level, with a run to the quarter-finals of Monte-Carlo his best on this surface. World number 19 Roberto Bautista Agut claimed the 10th ATP title of his career earlier this season at the Qatar Open and the Spaniard leads their well-contested head-to-head record 4-3. The 33-year-old has won each of their three meetings on clay without dropping a set and despite a recent downturn in form he should be able to find a way through in front of home fans. Bautista Agut’s recent form suggests taking him to win outright is the shrewd move here, with Coric starting well in his matches so far.
