Former world number four Bianca Andreescu conceded just four games to Emina Bektas on Tuesday, in keeping with recent strong form on grass. The 22-year-old finished runner-up to Caroline Garcia at the Bad Homburg Open last weekend and she took Karolina Pliskova, last season’s runner-up here, to three sets at the Berlin Open before defeat two weeks ago. The 2019 US Open champion has played very little tennis on grass through injuries and the cancellation of Wimbledon in 2020 due to covid-19, with Bektas her first victory at SW19. World number 23 Elena Rybakina is a seriously tough draw for the Canadian as a big-server with all the skills to excel on grass and the Kazakh overcame a good grass-courter in Coco Vandeweghe in straight sets on Tuesday. 23-year-old Rybakina has suffered early exits in each of her last two tournaments on the surface, though, and Andreescu has the better recent results to make this a tough call in their first meeting. Back Andreescu to win at least a set here and leave the winner up to chance but leave this one out of an accumulator.
