Home favourite Anna Bondar will set a new career-high WTA world ranking of at least 50th after defeating the Hungarian Grand Prix second seed Martina Trevisan in straight sets on Friday. The 25-year-old is yet to drop a set this week and targeting a first ever WTA tour final will be made all the more special as she is backed to the hilt by the Budapest crowd in this winnable fixture with Bernarda Pera. It has been some time since world number 130 Pera has reached this stage of a tournament on tour but she too is yet to drop a set and a victory over Aliaksandra Sasnovich in the round of 16 is perhaps the most impressive result between the two this week. A first meeting between Pera and Bondar leaves more questions than answers but home advantage and the form of her career so far makes edging towards Bondar seem reasonable. Take the Hungarian to win outright, or at least a set inside an accumulator.
