World number six Stefanos Tsitsipas is still far from the finished article on grass and he needed three sets to oust Marcos Giron on Thursday after a more assured showing against Ilya Ivashka. The 23-year-old is through to a first semi-final on grass after an ultimately disappointing swing on clay, albeit with a second-successive Monte-Carlo Open title to show for it, but it would be a surprise to see him make the second week at incoming Wimbledon after losing in the first round of each of his last two appearances. World number 56 Benjamin Bonzi is yet to drop a set this week in Mallorca and he took Tsitsipas to three sets before defeat at the Halle Open just last week. The Frenchman will be well aware of his opponents lack of confidence on this surface and backing him to win at least a set here, and thus leaving the winner up to chance, seems a shrewd move indeed.
