The 37-year-old plays a reduced schedule these days as a true veteran on tour but he will always be a threat on the North American hardcourt swing with 14 of his 16 ATP titles coming on US soil and 11 of that number coming on this surface. 19-year-old Ben Shelton will set a new career-high ATP world ranking of around 251st no matter the outcome here, after beating Ramkumar Ramanathan in straight sets on Tuesday, but the wildcard will be eager to impress on the big stage against the tournament favourite.
