World number 17 Belinda Bencic came back from a set down to beat in-form Veronika Kudermetova on Friday, with each of her three Berlin Open matches going the distance so far. The 25-year-old won her first WTA title on grass at the Eastbourne International back in 2015 and she finished runner-up here last season to Liudmila Samsonova. World number six Maria Sakkari thumped in-form Daria Kasatkina on Friday to maintain her perfect record in Berlin. The Greek is yet to drop a set here after conceding just three games to Kasatkina and that is impressive form indeed on a surface she has struggled on in the past. Sakkari won their only previous meeting at the St. Petersburg Open back in 2020 in three sets on a hardcourt but Bencic is the more comfortable performer on grass. Back the Swiss to win at least a set as the likelier of two very capable winners.
