THE PREDICTION

World number 16 Barbora Krejcikova made it seven wins on the spin with a straight-sets victory over Dayana Yastremska on Friday, backing-up her excellent maiden Masters title won in Dubai two weeks ago. The former world number two endured a tough season last year hampered by various injuries but two titles claimed right at the end of it in Tallinn and Ostrava suggested she would be able to recover in 2023 and so far she has not disappointed. A straight-sets victory over world number one Iga Swiatek in the Dubai final is the sort of level world number 67 Xinyu Wang will have to deal with here but the Chinese has already enjoyed an excellent campaign with two excellent results over Elise Mertens and 18th-seed Ekaterina Alexandrova. The 21-year-old should set a new career-high WTA world ranking of around 60th for her efforts but this looks a fairly convincing end of the line. Back Krejcikova to win in straight sets, although outright would be wise for an accumulator.
