World number 19 Barbora Krejcikova conceded just three games to Magdalena Frech on Tuesday to put in back-to-back wins on tour for only the second time since reaching the quarter-finals of the Australian Open. The 26-year-old has struggled with injuries this season and arguably came back too soon to attempt to defend her Roland-Garros title but two blistering performances in Hamburg suggests she is on the proper mend now. This is a tougher prospect against 21-year-old Anastasia Potapova, though, with the Russian enjoying her tennis on clay this season. Potapova will set a new career-high WTA world ranking of around 61st after reaching the quarter-finals with a straight-sets win over Maria Carle and she claimed her maiden WTA title on the surface at the Istanbul Open back in April. Krejcikova beat Potapova in comprehensive fashion in the quarter-finals of last season’s Dubai Tennis Championships but this could come a lot closer. The Czech should be coming through the winner at her best but three sets seem likely here and that could be a more suitable option in leaving the winner up to chance. The most sensible pick would be taking Krejcikova to win at least a set.
