26-year-old qualifier Antoine Bellier will set a new career-high ATP world ranking of around 174th after a straight-sets victory over Alexander Shevchenko on Tuesday. The Swiss has been struggling to get a win on the board at Challenger level in recent months and so a sudden change in fortune will be a difficult force for world number 20 Denis Shapovalov to face in his Stockholm opener. The 23-year-oldclaimed his only ATP final here back in 2019 and he recently finished runner-up to Yoshihito Nishioka at the Korea Open, taking that form all the way to the semi-finals of the Japan Open two weeks ago before losing to eventual champion Taylor Fritz in three tight sets. The Canadian should have more than enough to oust Bellier here in his current form but he is never too far away from a first round capitulation either. The suitably cautious move is backing Shapovalov to win outright.
