24-year-old Anna Bondar will set a new career-high WTA world ranking of at least 68th after reaching her second quarter-final this season. The Hungarian is yet to drop a set in Istanbul against two strong competitors in Tereza Martincova and Nuria Parrizas-Diaz and she could be a challenge for in-form Veronika Kudermetova if the Russian underestimates her opponent. Kudermetova, also 24, has conceded just two games this week after receiving a walkover to the quarter-final and she is in some of the form of her career both in singles and doubles. The Russian has finished runner-up twice this season already, to Simona Halep in Melbourne and to Jelena Ostapenko in Dubai, and she should be taking this first meeting with Bondar in two given the quality of opponent that has beaten her in recent months.
