THE PREDICTION
World number 53 Anna Bondar is yet to drop a set this week as Hungary’s last home hopeful in Budapest. The 25-year-old can break the top 50 on the WTA tour for a first time with one more victory but world number 26 Martina Trevisan, also on her career-high ranking, is a serious step-up in quality on this surface. The Italian won her first WTA title at the Rabat Open back in May and she took that form straight into Roland-Garros, reaching the semi-finals before defeat to Coco Gauff. Trevisan dropped her first set of the campaign but she ha snot looked back since. The 28-year-old is well capable of blasting her way through to the title at her best but backing her to win outright is a suitably cautious move with the crowd all pulling in Bondar’s direction.
