25-year-old Anna Bondar is up to a career-high WTA world ranking of 53rd after a steady season on tour so far and she will be well-backed this week as the Hungarian number one on the WTA. Bondar beat Jesika Maleckova in straight sets on Tuesday to snap a three-match losing streak on tour but she did reach the semi-finals of the Rabat Open on clay back in May before having to pull out of the tournament. World number 195 Despina Papamichail qualified this week to make the main draw in Budapest and she made the most of it, ousting Hungary’s Dalma Galfi in straight sets. The Greek has already knocked out one home hopeful but Bondar is a relatively tougher foe and she should be better for a win after snapping her losing streak. This match is worth leaving out of an accumulator but realistically Bondar should be taking this in two.
