24-year-old Anna Bondar set a new career-high WTA world ranking of 68th this week after a promising few months on tour. The Hungarian reached the quarter-finals of the Istanbul Open last week before losing in two tiebreaks to eventual runner-up Veronika Kudermetova but she will have to step-up a level if she is to beat Daria Kasatkina in their first ever meeting. 24-year-old Kasatkina set a career-high WTA world ranking of 10th back in 2018 before a few years in the wilderness but the Russian beat Coco Gauff last week in Stuttgart on her favoured clay before losing to in-form Ons Jabeur. Kasatkina won her first WTA title on clay at the 2017 Charleston Open as a teenager and a quarter-final exit at Roland-Garros a year later displays her penchant for the surface. Bondar is a creditable threat right now but backing Kasatkina to win outright seems a reasonable call here nonetheless.
