Hamburg Open top seed Anett Kontaveit has put back-to-back straight-set wins in to reach the quarter-finals, beating Irina Bara and Rebecca Peterson, as she looks to be returning to form. The 26-year-old had suffered with covid-19 and its lingering affects over the last few tournaments but this looks a comfortable enough quarter-final match-up against home hopeful Andrea Petkovic. 34-year-old Petkovic is a popular veteran on tour and at her best on the clay, with two assured victories over Misaki Doi and Tamara Korpatsch this week. Former world number nine Petkovic has every chance at a huge upset here with the majority of her seven WTA titles on won clay but Kontaveit leads this head-to-head record 2-0 and she is yet to concede a set to the German. Back the world number two to win outright for a suitably cautious call.
