World number seven Andrey Rublev beat Novak Djokovic in the Serbia Open final this time last month for an 11th ATP title of his career and a third of the season. The 24-year-old also claimed the Open 13 in Marseille and Dubai Tennis Championships on his favoured hardcourts but he is an excellent all-courter capable of going on stupendous runs of form. Rublev’s best showing at Roland-Garros is a quarter-final exit to Stefanos Tsitsipas here in 2020. World number 72 Soonwoo Kwon is always a tricky customer capable of occasional brilliance on court but the South Korean has struggled to find the intensity that saw him almost beat Denis Shapovalov at the Australian Open. The 24-year-old has already faced Andrey Rublev twice this season in losses at the Rotterdam Open and Dubai Tennis Championships, the latter coming in three sets. Given Rublev’s struggles to put opponents away in recent weeks the sensible move here is backing the Russian to win outright.
