ANDREY RUBLEV VS NUNO BORGES PREDICTION
He may be top seed coming into the Swiss Indoors tournament in Basel, but Andrey Rublev remains as wildly unpredictable as ever. The Russian turned 27 on Sunday and he will be hoping to celebrate his birthday with an opening win on Monday against Nuno Borges.
After reaching the final of the Canadian Open ten weeks ago, Rublev has largely flattered to deceive losing matches he was strong favoured to win. His latest loss came last week in Stockholm when 39-year-old Stan Wawrinka rolled back the years and beat him in straight sets.
Rublev will be focused on getting back to winning ways here although he faces a tough opener in Nuno Borges.
Borges is also 27 but has been out of action since the US Open where he battled a wrist problem before losing to Daniil Medvedev in the round of 16. He has not played since as he has let his injury recover and this is his first match back.
Prior to that, Borges has been playing the best tennis of his career so he will be desperate not to let that injury problem derail his season. Coming straight back in however against a quality, if inconsistent, talent like Rublev is likely to be a tall over. We have to go with Rublev with that in mind to get the win here.
