THE PREDICTION
World number 66 Ana Konjuh won her first WTA title as a teenager at the 2015 Nottingham Open but a raft of injuries have kept her from maintaining a level that saw her set a career-high of 20th. The 24-year-old reached the final of the Serbia Open on clay last season before an injury saw her retire against Paula Badosa but she has since managed to stay consistently on the tour. World number 51 Katerina Siniakova is also excellent on the clay, on which she won her first WTA title at the 2017 Bastad Open. The Czech has enjoyed an illustrious Women’s Doubles career alongside Barbora Krejcikova, with whom she currently holds the Madrid Open, Roland-Garros, WTA Finals and Australian Open titles. This should be a well-matched tussle with either player well capable of winning but despite trailing Konjuh 0-1 in their head-to-head Siniakova has the better recent form. Back the Czech to win at least a set as the likelier to come through.
