The American will set a new career-high WTA world ranking of around 125th after qualifying strongly this weekend and she could well be in for another upset here if she finds Maria Sakkari in the wrong mood. 27-year-old Sakkari is coming off a shock defeat in the final of the Emilia-Romagna Open last Saturday, losing as the top seed to Mayar Sherif in straight sets, to make it three-straight losses in finals including finishing runner-up here in Ostrava last season. The Greek should be able to blast through in two at her best but Parks’ top gear is a relative unknown at this stage. Plenty of Sakkari’s recent matches have gone to three sets, so take Parks to snatch at least one of them.
