World number 40 Alison Riske came back from a set down to beat in impressive Harriet Dart on Friday and, with top seed Maria Sakkari falling out of the draw, the American looks an odd-on favourite for the Nottingham Open title here. However, she faces the other main player in world number 55 Viktorija Golubic after the Swiss beat Ajla Tomljanovic in straight sets to take a perfect record into the semi-finals. Riske and Golubic share a finely-poised head-to-head record at 1-1 from two matches on clay back in 2016 and 2017 and this should be a fascinating first meeting on grass, a surface on which both players thrive as former Wimbledon quarter-finalists. Riske was a runner-up here in 2016 and she won her second of three WTA titles at ‘s-Hertogenbosch on grass back in 2019, whilst Golubic made the last eight at SW19 just last summer.
