THE PREDICTION
World number 29 Alison Riske-Amritraj put in a huge performance to beat Camila Osorio 10-5 in the deciding tiebreak on Wednesday but she faces another tough rising star in China’s Xiyu Wang. The 21-year-old came back from a set down to oust the ailing third seed Maria Sakkari in a similar performance to her first round win over Diane Parry and she has been excellent in recent weeks, with a run to the semi-finals of the Citi Open ended by eventual champion Liudmila Samsonova. Xiyu will likely break the top 60 for a first time no matter the outcome of his match but with sets likely to go both ways given their results so far and Riske-Amritraj’s famous battling spirit this match could be a good candidate for taking three sets and leaving the winner up to chance. Otherwise back Xiyu Wang to win at least a set as the just-about likelier victor.
