World number 38 Aliaksandra Sasnovich beat Anastasia Gasanova in three sets on Monday for a first win on grass this season. The 28-year-old has enjoyed a steady rise up the rankings over the last 12 months that began with a shock victory over Serena Williams via an unfortunate injury at Wimbledon, where she eventually lost in three sets to eventual semi-finalist Angelique Kerber. The Belarussian beat Kerber more recently at Roland-Garros on her way to the round of 16 and form like that suggests he is a reasonable favourite against Andrea Petkovic here. 34-year-old ‘Petko’ became the latest player to upset an out-of-sorts Garbine Muguruza on Tuesday, beating the former Wimbledon champion in straight sets to get her first win on grass. The German is a tough opponent on this surface but Sasnovich should have enough fangs to come through the outright winner here.
