23-year-old Alexis Galarneau received a wildcard to the main draw of the Canada Masters after reaching the final of a Challenger event in Winnipeg last month. The Canadian is playing just his second tour-level match on Tuesday in what will be the most important of his career so far against former world number three Grigor Dimitrov, who can occasionally be caught out in situations like these. 31-year-old Dimitrov has failed to win back-to-back matches on tour since reaching the third round of Roland-Garros back in May and a loss from a set up to Sebastian Korda last week in Washington was another below-par performance from the Bulgarian. Dimitrov should be taking this in straight sets, and comfortably at his best, but a one-off punt on Galarneau to snatch at least a set could be valuable here in front of home fans. Otherwise, perhaps this match is best left alone.
