20-year-old Lorenzo Musetti received a bye to the round of 16 of the Sofia Open as the fourth seed on his career-high ATP world ranking of 30th. The Italian claimed his maiden ATP title at the Hamburg Open on his favoured clay this summer, stunning Carlos Alcaraz in three sets, but he has managed just three wins from six matches on hardcourts since. 24-year-old Alexander Lazarov will set a new career-high ATP world ranking of around 310th no matter the outcome of this tough clash after he stunned Jiri Lehecka in the first round on Monday but he does stand a fare chance at another upset in conditions that suit him over Musetti. The Italian lost to a Bulgarian, Dimtar Kuzmanov, in the first round here last season and he initially struggled indoors until performing well at the Rotterdam Open in February. Musetti should come through the outright winner this time around but taking Lazarov to snatch at least a set could be the shrewd move here.
