THE PREDICTION

World number 43 Alexander Bublik looks in good shape this week at the Firenze Open after ousting Cristian Garin and Corentin Moutet in straight-sets apiece. The 25-year-old claimed his maiden ATP title at the Montpellier Open back in February on an indoor hardcourt, his favoured conditions, and he only recently finished runner-up to Lorenzo Sonego at the similar Moselle Open. 23-year-old J.J. Wolf looks set to break the top 70 on tour for a first time after an impressive victory over Maxime Cressy on Wednesday. The American is steadily improving on tour and a win over big-serving Cressy suggests he could be a threat a similarly-powerful big-hitter in this first meeting with Bublik. The seventh-seed, however, remains the fair favourite. Take Bublik to win outright but it is always advisable to leave the enigmatic Kazakh out of accumulators.
