THE PREDICTION

World number 21 Alex de Minaur has enjoyed some deceptively strong form over the summer, in large part due to no ranking points awarded for his excellent run to the round of 16 at Wimbledon last month. The 23-year-old won the sixth ATP title of his career at the Atlanta Open late last month with a solid victory over Jenson Brooksby and it took the likes of Nick Kyrgios to oust him from the Canada Masters this week. World number 41 Alexander Bublik also reached a final last month but he lost his to Maxime Cressy, agonisingly, from a set up at the Hall of Fame Open. The Kazakh lost his first match back after that disappointment, to the aforementioned Brooksby in Montreal, but trying to predict what mood the erratic 25-year-old is in has no rhyme nor reason. De Minaur has never dropped a set to Bublik but the suitably cautious pick here is taking the Aussie to come through outright.
