24-year-old Alex Molcan will set a new career-high ATP world ranking of at least 49th after he beat Laslo Djere in straight sets on Saturday and the Slovakian could rise as high as 43rd with a win here. Molcan deserves his place in only his second ATP final on tour after shocking the top seed Felix Auger-Aliassime in the round of 16 and he looks the surprise favourite here given his form against David Goffin, whom he beat in straight sets at Melbourne 1 back in January. Former world number seven Goffin is by far the more experienced finalist, though, and he has already beaten three clay specialists this campaign, most recently Federico Coria in two on Saturday. The Belgian should win his sixth ATP title, and second on clay, here but it is hard to look past the level of opponents Molcan has beaten. Back the Slovak to win at least a set as the likelier of two very capable champions.
