THE PREDICTION
Fifth-seed Alex de Minaur got his Stockholm Open campaign underway strongly on Tuesday, conceding just four games to Benjamin Bonzi. The 23-year-old recently claimed the sixth ATP title of his young career at the Atlanta Open, with five of his six titles coming on hardcourts. This first meeting with J.J. Wolf looks a winnable one on paper but the American did well to beat Alex Molcan in straight sets on Wednesday in a brilliant response to losing his first tour final last weekend. Wolf, also 23, set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 56th this week after beating the likes of Mikael Ymer and Alexander Bublik to the Firenze Open final and a positive start this week suggest this match could see three tight sets. De Minaur is usually fairly unflappable against players ranked significantly below him but there is enough trepidation here to warrant backing the Aussie to win at least a set as the likelier of two capable victors.
