World number 21 Alex de Minaur made short work of an out-of-sorts Reilly Opelka on Monday at Queen’s, beating the American in just over an hour. The 23-year-old is an excellent competitor on grass with his most recent of five ATP titles coming at the Eastbourne International last summer on the surface. World number 44 Alejandro Davidovich Fokina also impressed on Monday with a straight-sets victory over fellow Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas. Davidovich Fokina, also 23, has struggled on tour since a searing run to the Monte-Carlo Open final on his favoured clay – failing to win back-to-back matches at any of his last four tournaments. This, and De Minaur’s penchant for the grass, suggests the Aussie can take the lead in their head-to-head record currently finely poised at 1-1. Back De Minaur to win outright here in what could be a thriller.
